Where did Daddy go?

I tried teaching her a few weeks ago where her nose was. Now, no matter what question we ask her, she points to her nose (well, actually she misses most of the time and hits her eye instead). We laugh at her when she points to her nose so now she even does it with her cheesy grin just to make us laugh. What a goober! I asked her "Where's Daddy?" on Monday and this is the response I got--her pointing to her nose. Aaron is traveling with his choir this week to Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.

Jumbalaya!

Last Saturday we had another Jumbalaya Party with some fellow faculty members. Basically the male teachers get together and put whatever they can find in a pot and make it as spicy as possible. They call this mixture jumbalaya. Saturday's round involved sausage, chicken, shrimp, rice, noodles, peppers, onions, chili pepper, more spices, etc. I won't eat it. Regardless, it was fun to get together outside of school! Here's some pictures of the event.
The men who did the cooking.

Uncle Tim was there to spoil his goddaughter!

The host, Bob, was as eager as anyone to try out the jumbalaya.

Don't worry, we didn't feed the jumbalaya to the babies!

I bet you can't guess why she is laughing!

This picture is taken after church. My guess is that she is laughing because she's recalling the faces of the inhabitants of the church pews around us as she so eloquently passes gas through the entire service. And this is no rare occasion for my daughter, as her Auntie Kate can vouch for. I know that there are Staubs somewhere out there reading this blog thinking, "Hey, she gets that from my side of the family!"

What a big girl!

Miss Meredith is learning all sorts of new tricks now that she can crawl, pull herself up, climb over obstacles, etc. This morning I let her stand at the front door and watch the birds on the grass in the front yard. She stood there for several minutes until she got tired. Unfortunately, she hasn't figured out that when her legs get tired, she can sit down. She'll typically just keep standing and scream until one of use comes and helps her fall. Yes, we spoil her.

Can you tell that her hair is getting longer? It is so comical to see what her "bed head" will look like when she wakes. Every morning now we have to wet it down and do lots of combing. I picked out some toddler rubber bands out at the store tonight. Tomorrow we're going to try a ponytail!

She's been doing all sorts of things in her crib now before she finally passes out at nap time. When I go in to check to make sure she fell asleep, I often find her head in the corner like this. What a goober.
